Porn and matter of self-cofidence
Did anyone see the programme last night on channel 4 about sex education versus porn? I only saw the last 15 minutes or so of it. The premise of the programme was about how exposure to pornography on the internet at a young age affects attitudes to sex.
I only saw the bit where young teenagers were being shown naked bodies of ordinary women. Young boys (around 14 or so) were particularly offended by pubic hair, it seemed. Their female contemporaries were already having full bikini waxes 'You do it because they (the boys) want it.' Apparently, most of them had lost their virginities at 12. Large labia were also a turn off.
What struck me, thinking about it afterwards was that such a programme 20 years ago would have been up in arms about young teens watching the actual act, whereas this one was more about the affect watching porn has on young people's perception of what the human body should look like. Gratuitous sex in multiple positions and every orifice by disinterested 'actors' didn't seem to bother them at all.
Tonight there will be naked men and much hairiness.
